Gay Men Now Able to Donate Blood in Canada

Gay men are now able to donate blood in Canada, but only as long as they abstain for a period of 5 years.
I know that many people in the gay community is up in a tizzy because they feel that it is rude to exclude the gay community due to HIV/AIDS. In my own opinion, I feel that it is completely fair, due to the fact that it is easier for a male to pass on HIV/AIDS than it is for a female of heterosexual or homosexual orientation. Throughout the duration of 5 years HIV/AIDS can be discovered or can remain hidden for the amount of time. The fact that the Canadian government even allowed this to happen is already a step forward.
