America Attacks the "Mixed Race" Cheerios Commercial

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/05/cheerios-ad-mixed-race-couple_n_3390520.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

After the American Cheerios Commercial of the "mixed race" family featuring a white mother, a black father, and a biracial child caused many commotion from many different backgrounds and religious groups, Cheerios fights back, claiming that they tried to portray a true average American family.

Good for Cheerios.
Just the fact that a big company would step out and defend the fictitious family that they created means a lot, and it just shows how scared the world is to admit that we do have a majority of biracial families. This is going to be another ground breaking brand or company that doesn't care about how scared America is of change. First with the Target commerical featuring two moms on Mother's Day, and two dads in a regular commercial, and now this. I'm very proud to see that we are more or less trying to open the world's eyes.

"Lots of toys, blow-up items, all kinds of goodies." Girl has dildos stolen from car trunk.

Chelsey Coutts had $500 worth of Dildos stolen from her car trunk. After awkwardly explaining why indeed she had so many "toys...blowup items... [and] all kinds of goodies" in her trunk to the authorities, the police understood that, no, she wasn't a pornstar or a weird collector of the sorts, but she had the items for a bachelorette party that was coming up.
I'd be pretty pissed off if I had $500 bucks worth of stuff I've been saving up stolen, but I would have put them someplace where people wouldn't just happen to fall upon them... Maybe a dark corner of my basement or even hidden underneath a bunch of stuff in my closet. Not that I don't support "adult products", because what you do on your own time is your thing, but I definitely wouldn't, for any reason of use, hide them in my car trunk. She wasn't the only one to have things stolen from her trunk, along with 4 others she had many belongings taken, but none as funny or odd as this.
Well, at least it's a fun story to tell the grandkids someday... especially since there is a clip on Youtube.
"There you have it kids, don't leave sex toys in your trunk."

British Soldier Beheaded by "Muslim" Terrorist

In Woolwich, London, 2 terrorists with london accents beheaded a British Soldier who was innocently walking down the street. “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. Your people will never be safe. The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day." After trying to remove organs and being shot down by police, the two men were transported to the nearest hospital.

The two "Muslim" men calmly spoke to the camera, claiming that they would not stop until British troops stopped hurting innocent Muslim people. Newly converted, the two men claimed that they were helping their people. Being newly converted, I find this appauling. The Muslim people are peaceful people, and would never do such a thing. The News has already taken it as a terrorism attack from al-Qaeda, relating to the 2005 7/7 bombings in London. I send my good wishes to the family of the poor soldier who was decapitated and "butchered" and I hope that these two men come to justice, but blaming the Muslim religion, which many on lookers are doing is wrong. Yes, he was Muslim himself along with his companion, but that does not mean that a religious leader/god/deity told them to do such an atrocity to the poor serving man.

Cleveland Kidnapping: Personal Response #1

A 10-foot chain link fence surrounds the home of Ariel Castro in Cleveland. Castro is under arrest and charged with kidnapping and rape after three women were rescued last week at the house after being held captive for a decade.

Many people have already heard about the kidnapping of three local Cleveland women, Michelle Knight, who went missing in 2002 (now 32), Amanda Berry, who went missing in 2003, (now 27) and Gina DeJesus, who went missing in 2004, (now 23). The gruesome details of the rescued women have just been released by the press, and to say on my own behalf, are absolutely appalling

News articles say that after nine years, Amanda Berry escaped the house when Castro was not around. Berry says that Castro usually left the doors unlocked or only with one deadbolt to test the girls and see if they would flee, but luckily for her, it wasn't. Charles Ramsey, the "rescuer" of the girls, said he heard "what seemed like a domestic dispute" and hurried to help the girl take down the door. "When a pretty white girl comes running into a black man's arms, something's wrong here." Ramsey continued to show a light heart towards the situation, calling everyone from the 9-1-1 dispatch to the interviewers "bro". When a reporter suggested to him that people were starting to collect money to thank him for saving the girls, his reply was "I tell you what you do, give it to them, because if folks been following this case since last night, you been following me since last night, you know I got a job anyway."

Although Charles Ramsey keeps a light heart, I find it hard to not be discussed by what Castro did to those poor women. Authorities are suggesting that he way get the death penalty for what he has done, and I am all for it. Castro is a psychopath, and should be dealt with.

Not only will the women not ever be able to live a normal life, but they will always have to live with the physical and emotional scars. "The basement where the women were held had chains coming from the wall, and dog leashes attached to the ceiling. The women were restrained with them along with duct tape in “stress positions” [stress position, also known as a submission position, places the human body in such a way that a great amount of weight is placed on just one or two muscles] for long periods that left them with bed sores and other injuries." One of the women is unable to move her neck, due to the stress from the collars.
All of this is absolutely sickening. How neighbors didn't hear the women's screams or him bringing them into the house is just odd as well. But either way I am happy to see them back with their families and recovering well.

Blog Post Response: More Action Against Bullying Needed

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/attitudes-to-bullying-getting-better-one-dad-says-but-more-needs-to-be-done/article12326903/

After having his 15 year old son commit suicide after years of bullying about his sexual orientation, both online and at school, a Ottawa city councellor says enough is enough. The article states how he wants to do more to fight bullying and help prevent the high rate of Teen suicides because of it.
Not only is my opinion a little harsh, but it is also fairly realistic. Not any offense to anyone, but "pink shirt day" isnt going to do anything against bullying like it did a few years back, you can't stop kids from talking mean to each other and you can't fight the on going natural need to fit in with the crowd, and in order for many teenagers to do so, they have to follow someone where they know they will be safe from that torment.
Not only was I bullied for a good few years of my elementary school life, but on some occasions, I was the Bullier as well. I know what it feels like to be out of the social norm, as well as apart of it, and being bullied made me a stronger person in the end as well. Not only did I choose to sway from the "cool crowd" I also chose to help with bullying, and try to stop the bullies at my high school.
Little happened.
Not only will it be impossible to get rid of bullying all together, but it will be even harder to get rid of it online. In the article they suggest doing something about the Facebook community and "Twitterverse" but there is no stopping kids from openly insulting and harrassing others. The protection of the internet is too enticing for kids who want to be accepted socially.
The article also states briefly the tragic suicide of Amanda Todd, the world suddenly got up in a fuss about bullying, when many children before her were bullied and commited suicide years before. Her problem, as well as many others, could have been solved by the simple monitoring by parents. Now a days, people are too busy blaming other people for their children's problems instead of themselves. If Amanda Todd and other teens turned off Facebook/Twitter at the first sign of Bullying, it wouldn't have escalated so quickly. If parents watched what their child is doing online, and kept an eye on what they do in general, then many of this wouldn't happen.
In conclusion, if parents want to do something about bullying, they should monitor their child's online activity, and make sure if someone is bullying, turn off all connections, and keep tuned in on their kids school life. Maybe then we will have less teen suicide rates.
